Rough stone is judged wet, where translucency and veining read true. We buy small — a block yields two or three mouthpieces, and the rest is offcut.

NEPHRA makes one thing: the mouthpiece you bring to the hookah. Each tip is cored from natural grade-A jadeite — 翡翠 — and pressed onto a turned titanium stem, so the part that touches your lips is cool, dense, unglazed stone rather than plastic or chrome.
Jadeite is the house stone. The same silhouette is cut four more times — white marble, snowflake obsidian, tiger’s eye and rose quartz — and no two blocks read the same.

Stone first,

A hookah mouthpiece is the only part of the pipe that touches you. We treat it like jewellery: the same jadeite grading, the same finish standard, the same refusal to hide a flaw under plating.
Cored, never cast
The airway is drilled with a diamond core bit under constant water flow, then lapped through six grits until the bore is glass-smooth. Nothing is coated, dyed or resin-filled — obsidian and marble get a slower feed so they do not chip.
Pressed onto titanium
The stem is turned from grade-5 titanium and pressed into the stone over a fluoroelastomer O-ring. Mechanical fit only — no adhesive sits anywhere in the airway.

Care
- Rinse with warm water after a session — never boiling — every stone here dislikes thermal shock.
- A drop of neutral soap and a pipe brush is enough. No ultrasonic cleaners, no bleach.
- Dry the bore before storing so mineral deposits do not settle in the stone.
- Jade is hard but brittle. It will survive a lifetime of use and not one drop onto tile.
FAQ
Before you ask.
Everything says sold out. Can I still order?
Yes — through the waitlist. Batch 01 is fully allocated, so every reference is now reservation-only. You pick a piece, leave your name and shipping address, and we contact you in the order reservations arrived when batch 02 is cut.
Do I pay when I reserve?
No. A reservation costs nothing and commits you to nothing. When your stone is ready we send photographs of it plus a shipping quote to your address, and only then a payment link. If you have changed your mind, ignore it and the reservation lapses.
How much is a piece, and how long is the wait?
US$200 per mouthpiece, shipping quoted separately by destination. Batch 02 is being sourced now — expect four to six weeks from the moment your stone is confirmed.
Is this real jade?
The jadeite references are natural grade-A jadeite, the same classification used in fine jewellery. Grade A means the stone has been cut and polished only: no bleaching, no polymer impregnation, no dye. Every piece ships with a card stating its stone type, and independent lab certification can be arranged on request.
Which stone should I choose?
Jadeite is the classic — dense, cool, and the reason the atelier exists. Tiger's eye and rose quartz are quartz-family stones, the hardest here at 7 Mohs, so they are the most forgiving day to day. Snowflake obsidian is volcanic glass: the darkest look, slightly softer. White marble is the softest at 3–4 Mohs and the most striking, but it marks if you are careless. All of them cost the same.
Which hookahs does it fit?
Any standard setup. The titanium stem is sized for 18 mm hoses, and a 12 mm adapter is in the box. If you run an unusual hose diameter, send us a photograph before ordering and we will confirm the fit.
Why stone instead of metal or plastic?
Stone sits cool against the lip and stays that way through a long session — it draws heat away far better than resin, and unlike bare metal it never tastes of anything. It is also dense enough to give the hose a weighted, deliberate feel.
Will the stone crack?
Jadeite is among the toughest natural stones and resists chipping remarkably well; quartz is harder but more brittle; marble and obsidian are the two to be careful with. Normal use, travel and cleaning are fine for all five. A fall onto a hard floor is not.
Can I have one made from my own stone?
Yes. Send photographs and dimensions of your rough or your existing pendant and we will quote — we have cut customers' own jadeite, agate and petrified wood. Commission work runs four to six weeks and starts at US$320.
Where do you ship, and how?
Worldwide, insured and tracked. Parcels leave Taipei within two working days of payment clearing; the exact cost depends on your country and is quoted before you pay.
